Caffeine Adsorption onto Bentonite Clay in Suspension and Immobilized

Abstract This study describes the use of bentonite in suspension for the caffeine adsorption (pollutant of emerging concern) by taking different conditions of the pH, adsorbent mass, adsorbent calcination temperature and interferents into account. The results were compared with those obtained using bentonite immobilized in alginate beads. The acid medium has a greater efficiency for the caffeine adsorption and the adsorbent calcination temperature exerts, due to structural changes. Caffeine removal higher than 90% was obtained at optimized conditions. The Langmuir model indicated a better fit of the data and the adsorption capacity of caffeine onto bentonite. The bentonite immobilized led to a slower adsorption process in relation to the suspended.

Integração Periodontia/Dent¡stica na restauração estatica anterior / Integration between Periodontics on anterior aesthetic restoration

A discrepƒncia da margem gengival somada a pr¢teses muito opacas e restaura‡ães insatisfat¢rias podem comprometer completamente a harmonia de um sorriso. Ferramentas como fotografia odontol¢gica, planejamento reverso e advento da Odontologia adesiva sÆo de vital importƒncia em um caso de reabilita‡Æo est‚tica do sorriso. No caso apresentado ‚ mostrado como essas ferramentas podem auxiliar um bom planejamento e desenvolvimento do caso, garantindo resultados s¢lidos e previs¡veis. Foram utilizadas t‚cnicas de an lise dentofacial, enceramento diagn¢stico, moke-up, gengivectomia, clareamento dental e finalizado com facetas e coroas em dissilicato de l¡tio. Seguindo um protocolo de planejamento reverso ‚ poss¡vel obter resultados de excelˆncia envolvendo menos elementos dentais, com menor desgaste e est‚tica natural.

Gingival margin discrepancy plus opaque and unsatisfactory dental restorations can compromise significantly the harmony of the smile. Tools such as dental photography, reverse planning and the advent of adhesive dentistry are for the aesthetic rehabilitation of the smile. The reported case shows how these tools can aid proper planning and development of the case, ensuring solid and predictable results. Techniques such as dentofacial analysis, wax-up, moke-up, gingivectomy, dental bleaching, and lithium disilicate crowns and veneers were used in the following case. When the reverse planning protocol is followed it is possible to obtain excellent results involving less dental elements, with minor dental wear and natural aesthetics.

Floristic survey of the herbaceous-shrub layer of a gallery forest in Alto Paraíso de Goiás - GO, Brazil

Flowering species of the herbaceous and shrubby layer were sampled in a gallery forest at Portal da Chapada, Alto Paraíso de Goiás-GO in the Chapada dos Veadeiros during 12 months growing within 4.5 meters on either side of a raised pathway 2.4 Km long. The collections were included to University of Brasilia Herbarium (UB). A total of 138 species (103 genera and 40 families) were recorded; the most species-rich families were Asteraceae (22), Poaceae (14), Rubiaceae (12), Fabaceae (11) and Melastomataceae (7). The richest family in number of genera was Asteraceae (19), followed by Poaceae (8), Fabaceae (8) and Rubiaceae (7). The results showed a meaningful increase in the Chapada dos Veadeiros flora, especially considering the herbaceous-shrubby layer of the gallery forests (223.6%). Despite the richness of the flora, the number of endemics species in the Goiás State was only 1.5%.

Estudo técnico sobre afastamento do agressor do lar no abuso sexual: autor, família e vítima / Technical study about the removal of the aggressor in sexual abuse: offender, family and victim / Estudio técnico acerca del alejamiento del agresor del hogar en el abuso sexual: autor, familia y víctima

O texto discute, a partir de um estudo técnico, a questão do afastamento do agressor do lar, em casos de abuso sexual infantil, e a aplicação da Doutrina da Proteção Integral, considerando a atenção psicossocial dada ao agressor, à família e à vítima. Foi adotado o modelo de estudo de caso instrumental com uma amostra intencional. O contexto foi o Centro de Referência para Proteção Integral da Criança e do Adolescente em Situação de Violência Sexual de um tribunal. A família estudada - mãe, padrasto e três filhas adolescentes - encontrava‑se em situação de violência sexual em decorrência de determinação da medida protetiva. As informações foram organizadas e interpretadas na perspectiva da análise documental. No resgate da proteção, a Justiça não fortaleceu o diálogo com o Sistema de Garantia de Direitos, evidenciando que não há plena convergência das ações de Defesa com a real e concreta proteção da família em estudo.

This paper addresses the issue of removing the aggressor from the household in cases of child sexual abuse and applying the Full Protection Doctrine, taking into account the psychosocial care given to the aggressor, the family and the victim. For this purpose, the instrumental case study approach was adopted with a purposive sample within the context of a Brazilian court's Referral Center for Full Protection of Children and Adolescents Facing Sexual Violence. Members of a family affected by sexual violence that was the object of a technical study due to a protective order determination were the subject of the survey: mother, stepfather and three adolescent daughters. The information was organized and interpreted using the document analysis method. In the process of recovering the protection system, the courts failed to strengthen their dialogue with the Rights Guarantee System, suggesting that Defense actions are not fully in tune with actual and solid protection measures available to the individuals being studied.

En este texto discutimos el tema del alejamiento del agresor del hogar en los casos de abuso sexual infantil y la aplicación de la Doctrina de la Protección Integral, considerando la atención psicosocial dada al agresor, a la familia y a la víctima. Se ha adoptado el modelo de estudio de caso instrumental con una muestra intencional. El contexto fue el Centro de Referencia para la Protección Integral del Niño y del Adolescente en Situación de Violencia Sexual de un tribunal. El foco de la investigación fueron miembros de una familia en situación de violencia sexual que se hallaba en estudio técnico debido a la determinación de la medida de protección: madre, padrastro, tres hijas adolecentes. Las informaciones se organizaron y se interpretaron dentro de la perspectiva del análisis documental. En el resgate de la protección, la Justicia no fortaleció el diálogo com el Sistema de Garantía de Derechos, evidenciando que no hay plena convergencia de las acciones de Defensa con la real y concreta protección de la familia en cuestión.
